Redact a PDF

Black out names, numbers and whole areas before you share a document.

Runs on your device. Your file is not uploaded.

Free to open and preview. Downloading the result needs PDF Tower Pro: $119.99 a year or $14.99 a month. See pricing

What it does

Search for names, numbers and phrases, or pick Social Security numbers, emails, phone numbers, card numbers and dates. Review every box and draw your own over anything else. Redaction then deletes the text, images and drawings under each box from the saved copy, instead of drawing a box over them, and removes hidden data such as metadata and attachments.

How it works

  1. Choose a PDF.
  2. Search for text or patterns, and drag boxes over anything else. Review each box.
  3. Apply and download the redacted copy with PDF Tower Pro.

Good to know

  • Always open the saved copy and check it before you send it.
  • Text inside scanned images isn't searchable; mark those areas by hand.
